The many sounds of memories whooshing by stopped as I broke through the last barrier. I entered what humans would refer to as a Void, a Black Hole. There were no sounds, and the air was neither good nor evil. I tuned my senses, moving noiselessly in this black emptiness, searching for this desperately lonely little girl.
A faint light glimmered in the distance, and I made a beeline straight for it. This being Akari's soul, I was sure that light would be emanating from her, and I was not disappointed.
I finally reached the source of the light. A single rose of purest white stood, its roots fading into the darkness. The flower was weak, that much was easy to see. It was withering, but yet seemed to be struggling to survive. How fitting, that her true form would be this.
Who.... who... what are you? Why are you here?
That same beautiful resonance. It was still weak, but it held a slight wariness and indignation at having her most private space invaded.
"My name is Lord Nisemearle Esevie Et Lyunae D'Raison. I am a being of the higher realm and am seeking a body to inhabit while I traverse this earth."
Our kind usually does not bother with idle chatter, preferring to immediately wrest control from the host. However, with Akari.... Her soul is so pure, such a rarity among these brusque creatures, that I do not wish to just simply destroy it this way. I was hoping to come to some sort of compromise.
"Kodoku Akari, would you like to form a contract with me?"
Her soul's personification perked up, seemingly curious.
"Will I be free from them?"
"I will do anything in my powers."
"Will I have a chance to live as I want?"
"That shall be the reward for you, after I have fulfilled my purpose on this earth."
"Do I need to do anything?"
"No, just loan me your body until my mission is complete. Until then, you can take refuge here while your spiritual wounds heal."
I waited.
"....Take me, release me from this constant terror."
The flower disappeared in a flash of exceedingly bright light, and my vision of the Earthly realm returned, but through Akari's eyes. I flexed the fingers of my new body, feeling the otherworldly strength and spiritual energy filling every crevice in this body. The slight pain in my neck rapidly faded away to nothing.
I glanced to the side, where the father was still fumbling with the gun and muttering to himself. Shifting my vision to the foot of my bed, I saw the mother still slumped over, escaping reality into the welcoming warmth of her dreams.
Sopor, dormire, pro aeternitate.
The incantation escaped my lips in a barely audible whisper, my fingers tracing lines in the air in small, quick motions. The mother's ragged breathing immediately slowed, her consciousness peacefully rocked to sleep in the arms of Death until she completely stopped breathing. Benigne dicis, Magnus Dominusssss, Death hissed before bowing his head and retreating into his realm carrying the woman's soul.
I sat up and stared at the father, so pathetically intoxicated he could barely stand straight, let alone handle a gun. I cleared my throat softly.
Like cornered prey, the father's head whipped around to face me, his finger finally on the trigger. "I THOUGHT I'D KILLED YOU, STUPID BITCH," he yelled, spraying his alcoholic spit, "We all have nothing left anymore, no point, come die with Daddy okay? We can be a happy family on the other side!" He was practically cooing. His demeanor had done a sudden 180, although his finger was still on the trigger.
His trembling had spread to the rest of his body, a bad mix of adrenaline and too much alcohol. His brow was glistening with sweat as he readied the gun, pointing it at me.
The father applied sudden force on the trigger. At the same moment, the gun's barrel spun to face its owner instead of me. Spiritus animo. The father died instantly from the point-blank shot.
I felt a stirring from within me. "Yes, Akari?" I asked, seemingly talking to myself.
Thank you, said the resonance. Involuntarily, though I guess they were hers, tears of relief began to fall.

NiseRaison様と清純女。
We heard raucous laughter as we approached the shack. Two adults, one male, one female. They were drinking, and even from this distance, just hearing their voices told me they were utterly drunk. Humans and their pitifully low tolerance of alcohol. I shook my head in disgust.
"You are suggesting that I possess one of these filthy creatures, Teur Lorune? Really?" I winced at Ace.
He immediately bowed his petite feline head. "My apologies, m'lord. Neither of these wasted creatures are the human I have detected. The target human's life force is extremely weak and fluctuating irregularly. If my humble guess proves accurate, the wastrels are her parents and are trying to kill the target right now.
Shall we make haste, before the target's life force is completely depleted?"
I sighed and ran as fast as the old dog's legs could carry me, while Ace swiftly followed, leaping gracefully over the low walls and fences.
We reached the open window, from under which we could hear the wasted parents laughing.
"Manays -- Mayno -- MAYONNAISE -- Mays -- Mayaaans say it isss the end of the walla.... WOOOOOORLD!" The male could barely form his words. "It's a ho-ho-hocks -- hoax you.... you dumb ass useless fuck," the female slurred.
The male sniggered. "Who cares, who cares anymore? We don't -hic- don't need to be here any -- anymore! We can all DIE and live worry-free and hap-HAPPY in the lalalife!"
The female threw a bottle at the male; we heard the crash of glass breaking. "AFTERLIFE, DUMB FUCK," hollered the drunk female.
There was a sound like a gun's safety going off, and I heard the tiniest, weakest of coughs. "Now's your chance, master," Ace nodded.
Taking a deep breath so I would take in as little of the putrid human air as possible, I broke out of the dying dog's body. Going through the window, I realized there was another human in that room: a young girl, probably around thirteen years of age, hovering on the brink of death. I guessed she had been strangled; her neck bore telltale marks where fingers had so recently applied such force, and her face was almost comically blue. I shifted my vision and saw that the male was a few feet away, his hands shaking over a gun. He had probably been trying to murder her this whole time and only left to get that gun.
"Stupid bitch, you're the fucking dumb fuck, you don't call me a dumb fuck, you ain't calling no one a dumb fuck after I -hic- shoot your fucking mouth," the male was muttering to himself, but loudly enough for the drunk female collapsed by the girl's bed.
Someone....save me.....kill me..... please....
I heard a weak resonance. This was a kind of voice known to beings of the Higher Realm, a voice that humans acquired when they were about to die. In my time as a priestess, I had heard many resona, but those were usually from criminals, weak pathetic cries for leniency in their final judgments.
This resonance was different. It sounded so melancholy, so beautiful. It had a dreamlike, melodic quality to it, like something only someone with the purest of hearts could produce.
I looked at the dying girl, the only one here who could possibly have a resonance so innocent.
Tempus, expono.
Relief swept over me as the magia worked. A countdown appeared, hovering above her heart, and relief turned into urgency when I saw the timer reflect mere seconds.
I hurriedly whispered the incantations to break the soul barriers as I plunged into the girl's near-lifeless body.
Exscindo realitatem, transmineo tempus. Sanare corpus, benedicite mentis.
The girl's memories flashed before me.
A happy beginning, loved by both her parents. Went to school, loved by all her classmates. Then her maternal grandparents' funeral, killed in a horrific plane crash. Her mother sobbing uncontrollably. Her mother, going further into mental breakdown, drowning her sorrows in drugs and alcohol. Her father, in the sidelines, watching, helpless. Her father, sinking into the same bottomless pit of despair as his wife. The girl, picking what flowers are left from their unkempt garden, giving the miserable bouquet to her hopeless parents. Father, shoving her aside. Rejection, rejection, rejection.
Reparet in corpore potentia, et alligate spiritum meum.
The deeper I went, the faster her time remaining went up.
Girl, questioned by her teacher. Is everything okay at home? Yes, yes, it's perfect, yes, thank you for your concern. Smiling, so brightly. Brave girl.
Tribuo obvius, confringet cincinno.
The numbers on her timer are increasing so fast they are a blur. I'm almost there.
Her name is 小特 愛華里。Kodoku Akari. Special little love in flower. But written another way, it could also mean lighting up loneliness. Such sadness, even doomed into her name, but for her little ray of hope.
My soul wept for her.
Meus, et, tu. Iam, iam, iam, mundo anima.

NiseRaison様と執事のAceirves Erethie
We've been wandering around this place for about three hours now. I believe humans refer to this place as a "shipyard". I remember reading that by this time, most humans are taking their essential daily rest. I do not understand why they have to take this rest so frequently, and this only reinforces my belief that the beings who inhabit this realm are weak, but I digress.
The shipyard is mostly quiet, but there are packets of activity here and there and we narrowly escaped from a crazy burly human male who tried to hit us. His breath was rancid. I believe that smell is alcohol. Humans are such brutish creatures.
There is a small ramshackle house just beyond the shipyard with its front porch lights on. We are headed there as Ace says there is an optimal body for me there.
I am fortunate to have Ace with me on this starting leg of my adventure, as his prime skill is something that is most important right now. Ace has the ability to detect various emotions and their levels in any being. He used to be made fun of for having a pointless ability, but right now he is proving to be a valuable asset in my current goal of finding a broken soul to take over.

In this world, I am but an ethereal existence. I remember from the scrolls in the forbidden vault in the Higher Realm that our kind cannot survive in the stained auras of the human world for long unless we take possession of a living body, so for now I have taken over the body of a large dog I came across in our desperate search for a vessel. My servant Aceirves Erethie Teur Lorune is right now taking the body of a cat we found a few minutes later.
Alas, although Ace's feline body suits him well both physically and corporeally, it seems the body of this accursed canine cannot handle my overwhelming spiritual energy. The dog is aging rapidly and we can all feel its body decaying. I need to quickly find a human body and wrestle its soul for dominance.
NiseRaison様、到着しました。
My royal name cannot be revealed to humans such as yourself. The mere knowledge of my true name could endanger your short lives.
To mere humans, my earthly name is Lord Nisemearle Esevie Et Lyunae D'Raison. I was born of the Higher Realm and raised as a Dark Priestess, but after a civil war four milleniums past, the High Lord of the Realm was.... deposed, and I was discharged from my priestly duties and trained in the ways of the Lordship.
Unfortunately, the political situation in the Higher Realm has been tumultous in the recent thousand years, and I was attacked and forced to flee my home and seek refuge in this little world with my royal servants. It has been a rocky ride fraught with danger, I've been separated from all but one of my servants, but I.... I have finally arrived.
And thus begins my journey to find my loyal servants and reclaim my lost kingdom.
